This team is where every other team in the SEC is ---- Chasing Kentucky.

Our defense gives us a chance against Kentucky. If Thornwell can tap into some Devin Downey mojo, we have a chance. PJ needs to become more consistent. He had a garbage game tonight.

Ole Miss' leading scorer. They come to the CLA on Saturday as our next opponent. We need to take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way....

Hmm...first, TN loses their second leading scorer just before playing us, them MS possibly loses Burnett before our game. Can the basketball gods be smiling upon us?

I wonder if seventh woods regrets going to UNC. He's playing about 8 min a game and averaging less than 2 points. He would probably be a starter here, or at worst first off the bench.

Read the thread about Rah Felder and what he said about USC and then tell me again you want Seventh Woods here. I want players that want to be Gamecocks.

I disagree at the present, they beat a uncHEAT team that barely beat utenn by 3 and loss to a Louisville team I think we would match up well against. They will however add the #11 player in the country this week and he will be eligible immediately in 6'5 shooting guard Hamidou Diallo. I think we match up well with them and look forward to playing them as well as florida with Thornwell back on the floor.
Funny how people disregard when kentucky loses a game or plays a close game to it not being the best appearance of the season but if we do that even without our best player it is because we came back down to earth. Silva has remotely close stats as Adebayo while playing 7 less minutes.

Yes, but Silva doesn't have the same supporting cast around him as Adebayo, so its even harder for Adebayo to stand out the way he would if he were playing for ANY other team at most places in the country. I mean come on, Malik Monk is getting 21.7 PPG, and then they've got Fox and Briscoe at 16+ PPG ahead of him. Three guys averaging more than 16 PPG and a guy like Adebayo is only at 13.1?

Sorry, I'm just not buying the Silva comparison (and that is NOT a knock on Silva).

They don't compare but to say that Silva is not remotely close no matter how you look at is wrong in my opinion, Sin averages 19, Dozier 15 with Notice at 10 and Silva at 9. As a team we score much less and play much better defense as Silva averages more blocks and more steals while shooting a better % from the field and the free throw line. Kentucky averages 93 points per game while giving up 71 and we average 72 while giving up 60 without ever getting the benefit of the doubt from the refs, ever. Kentucky has taken almost 100 more FT's than their opponent while our opponent has taken almost 100 more than us, just my opinion but I look forward to watching Silva prove one of us correct.

Good stuff. Somehow, Silva has gotten the reputation of being a guy that fouls a lot, and the refs respond accordingly. I have seen more phantom and ticky-tack fouls called on him that any player that I have ever seen. It has gotten to the point where it affects his outlook and play - which is a shame, because he is very talented and should be contributing a lot more.

We need for Keita and Silva to elevate their games before UK. For Silva, that means staying in the game. We have talent, they just need to pick it up. And Kotsar needs to step it up as well - Martin said that the holidays impacted him, being homesick because he could not go home like the other players. Time to get dialed back in. Our bigs are young but they have to compete.

IMHO, Adebayo and Silva are 2 different players. Adebayo is more of a Dwight Howard, while Silva is more Kenneth Faried. Both could definitely use some polish, and both have freaky potential.

Just to clarify, I didn't say that Silva wasn't remotely close... someone else did (I just kept the quote so that the thread made sense). I just said I wasn't buying the comparison of the two, as I think Adebayo is a MUCH different player than Silva, with a MUCH different squad around him.

Silva is a diamond that needs some polishing. Once he figures out how to play with his hands in a position that doesn't keep the refs calling him for phantom fouls, he'll be a much different player (perhaps it's just the long arms, IDK). Right now, as I see it, Silva really benefits from the return of Sindarius Thornwell, as Thornwell gives Silva some extra space for his offensive game. I really like when they're both on the floor and in sync with one another. It makes for some explosive offense.

I would guess you're going to see a pretty big game from Chris against Ole Miss. Ole Miss plays REALLY hard down near the glass, and I would guess that Silva will take exception to the physical rebounding and shot blocking that Ole Miss has exhibited this year. In my estimation, Silva is a much better player at the rim than Saiz is (even though Saiz is the active career leader in rebounding in the SEC), so I expect it to be a battle of wills on both the offensive and defensive end of the floor.

Silva is the closest comparison to him on our team IMO and the post was to show we had someone remotely close to Bam. With the emergence of a 10-12' jump shot that he is confident in taking, Silva's offense is going to get better as the year progresses, Sin, Dozier and Notice will find him when going to the basket and that jump shot will open up the lane if he stays out of foul trouble or the refs quit "picking" on him LOL

If I had Silva's height and physicality I would try to assert my dominance and probably stay in foul trouble like he tends to do.

His mid-range jumpers are awesome.
