Default Sports Illustrated High On Transfer's Scoring

Sports Illustrated listed Holden, Booker, and Myers in their Top 100 Scoring Transfers:

http://www.thestate.com/sports/colle...178525266.html

https://www.si.com/college-basketbal...low_twitter_si

They List Holden at no. 4, Myers at no. 19, and Booker at no. 97. Both Holden and Myers are projected to average in double figures, at 14.5 and 12.2 PPG respectively.

I don't know how they figure that, but if we can get dbl digit scoring out of them to add to what Silva and perhaps Kotsar is capable of producing, our offense won't drop off that far.....

Many of our fans think our guard play won't be good this season. I think with these 3 transfers plus a blue chip freshman we will be good at guard. If Silva can get some decent help up front we have a very good chance of having a special season. I think this team is underrated by many.

The bigger issue is the lack of length we'll have at the guard positions on defense. That's what made us great last year and we have mostly small guards now

But Frank says this team is faster, which can make up for length to an extent, and can help on offense too. Frank seems to like this team a lot. I can hardly wait to watch them play. Lots of folks are underestimating this team right now, but Frank knows he has a good team.

Length is not what made us great, it was our overall Defense. Although it did help with the passing lanes and defending the outside shot.

Booker is 6'4 at the #2 spot and we have Doumbia and Minaya available to play the #3, both 6'7" and very athletic. We are actually taller there - Sin was 6'5".

Outside of those guys, all of our remaining guards are in the 6'1" - 6'2" range - not tall, but not short (our token short guy is ineligible first semester).

A bigger factor than our length was the tenacious D from Notice, who covered the other team's best guard. Notice is in the 6'1" - 6'2" range, just like the guys that will be playing this year. We just need for a couple of them to step up and play the kind of D that we need.

Booker only got 17 minutes a game at FAU. Pencilling him into the starting lineup may not be the thing to do.

I wouldn't count on Minaya or Doumbia to necessarily be ready to start on the wing, but that may ultimately be what Frank rolls with given how he likes size and the other options don't look wonderful either.

I never said that Booker would start, but Frank says he will contribute. Don't look at FAU - he was the first guy off the bench for a Sweet Sixteen team before transferring to FAU. Good 3 point shot. I don't think he forgot how to play, so there must have been something else going on at FAU - injuries, problems with coaches, whatever.

I think Hassani and Holden start at Guard, Silva and Kotsar are the bigs. Booker, Minaya and Doumbia will all get looks at the #3, but we could also go smaller with Beatty (very athletic at 6' 2"). I think it may change according to the opponent - Booker and Beatty if we need ball handling, Minaya and Doumbia for size and rebounding.

No matter where they played before coming here, any player will have to pass muster with Frank on the defensive end of the court if they want playing time.

Lamont Evans brought in one-and-done wanna-be players who couldn't cut it for the most part. It's pretty clear now that he had ulterior motives for bringing recruits here.

The team will have to gel, but I think we will have success sooner this year than past seasons because we have better recruits/JUCOs here for the long haul.
