Disagree. You can score quick on offense, but if the other team controls TOP on offense, you won't necessarily have more offensive possessions or more plays.

Yea see us vs Clemson when they had morris. They couldn’t run a bunch of plays like they were use to. We ran the ball then scrambled on 3rd and medium and kept rippin hearts out.

It has to be situational or you run into that problem.

Champ is a defensive minded coach, he clearly thinks that tempo can put enough strain on a D that it is worth doing and I guess in his mind is worth the risk.

I don't think it will be quite as wide open as often as some people think, but I think in some situations tempo can really stress and wear down a D.

Its probalby been said already in this thread but I will say it again. We are NOT going to play an Up Tempo offense. We are going to be running a Tempo type offense.
When our offensive coaches see an opportunity where tempo could be beneficial they have a set of plays we will run or a set of formaitions we can run tempo in. We will not be wholesale up tempo like klempzun once was.

Hopefully we won't be changing plays with 4 seconds on the clock like Spurrier used to do.

So it'll be just like last year's offense

I just want an offense that is better than watching paint dry, which is what we've had the last couple of years.

Except there will be times when we hit warp speed. You're going to see our average plays per game go up a bit this year for sure. It's not going to be wholesale up tempo because that's a recipe for disaster but there's definitely going to be more emphasis on pushing the tempo much more often.

Don't kid yourself, we didn't play a true hurry up offense for any single drive last year.

I'm fine if it looks like last year's as long as they execute the plays instead of all the screw-ups.

I still don't get the love for the extreme9fast offenses. If anything, it gives the defense hope that all it takes is one small slip up by the offense for it to be off schedule. I swear it seems like a lot of people would be happier if an offense could go score in five plays than a long, grinding 15-play march.

The reality is Muschamp has yet to have a successful offense in his time as a HC so him trying something new that he hasn't done before is something I can get behind. As for the extremely fast pace it can gas the DL which helps the OL out tremendously, as Muschamp has said before once a DL gets winded it's going to be a long day. Plus an up tempo attack tends to force the defense to simplify and makes it easier for a QB to make reads and an OL to pick up blitzes. My hope is we mix up the pace a good bit because that's when it's most effective.

According to Coach Boom (right now on Carolina Calls) ..We will line up on the
line of scrimmage every play, but we'll pick our spots when we want to speed
it up, or go at a normal pace.

It will be situational and random.

He likes the way that is shaping up in practice so far, and says Jake plays much
better when we hurry things up.

Or SOS trying to change the play then either a time-out wasted or a delay of game penalty called.

..Here you go, just like other teams who like to play tempo offense. We will have set plays when the offense takes the field but plays will change depending on defensive looks and which players on defense are out of position or not set up ready to play. That is when you will see us put the foot on the gas.

Yeah, it has to be situational or you can end up just gassing your own D.

It can be really nice to have the ability to just put it in gear and go when you start to see the D starting to get tired or out of position. Turn on the gas and keep em on the field.
