Heck, we do not even make the tournament without Notice, who did a lot of the ballhandling for Dozier, hit lots of key baskets, was a team leader and a lockdown defender.

Let's just agree that we needed the in-state and the OOS/OOC players. But just as we would have a really good team if we got every in-state player (reality is that we can't come close), who is to say that we could not have found talented OOS players to fill the roles of Sin and Dozier?

Here is some quick information. As a Freshman, Dozier got his 6.7 points shooting .422 on 2 pointers, .213 from 3, and .544 from the FT line, while averaging 2.1 assists.

AJ Lawson - you know the Canadian player - is averaging 12.7 points shooting .439 from 2, .304 from 3, .642 from the FT line, while averaging 3.1 Assists. Easily better in each category, more steals and rebounds also. And, like Dozier, Lawson is an effective defender on the perimeter.

So.....Frank just got a foreign recruit who looks to be much better than the HIGHEST RATED player we have ever gotten out of South Carolina. So what is your point?

Who cares where the players come from. What we need are talented players that are willing to stick it out 3-4 years under Frank Martin. It's no coincidence that our two best teams under FM so far we're teams that were upperclassmen heavy. Our biggest Achilles hill as a program is the constant rebuilding due to the transferring/ off the court issues. We can't expect to be successful with that formula unless we're pulling top talented classes like Duke and Kentucky on a yearly basis.

Real quick, what happened last year? Did Silva and Kotsar lead us to the tournament?

We can do this BS all day. The Fact remains without Sin or PJ, there is no final four. Sin lead us there.

It’s doesn’t matter, IF they were as good as the instate guys we miss on.

In state guys took us to the final four. Non instate guys don’t even get us the the tournament.

I believe Frank recruited Thornwell and PJ. I also believe Frank recruited all the other players on our FF team. Again it makes no difference where the players are from. Just get the best available players who want to play for USC. To hear you tell it Thornwell and PJ would not have been as good if they were from out of state. Of course you are and have been anti-Frank so you will always complain about anything Frank does.

Good post. I think we will see more upperclassmen going forward and no doubt this is a huge key to being successful.

No, they did not make the NCAA tournament. Because we had no PG.

I truly believe that we would have made the tournament with a healthy Rah (OOS with an asterisk, originally from Rock Hill), or PJ returning (in-state), or possibly even a healthy and in-shape Holden (OOS/transfer).

We should have made it after the 2015-2016 season. The best player from that team was not Sin, it was OOS/OOC Michael Carrera (1st team All-SEC). In fact, 4 of 5 players from that team were both OOS and OOC. And you can make the argument that a late season injury that kept Carrera out of a couple of games cost us the bid.

We have a long way to go (and things are looking better lately), but I would guess that early season injuries may have taken away a good shot at the NCAA this year. in other words, we would have been derailed by injuries and/or eligibility (where are you, Couisnard) for two years in a row.

But I believe we have had the TALENT to make each of the last two years - with no SC players in sight. And in the last four years, we have had the TALENT to make it each year, and the resume to make it two of the four years. In that time frame, we have had two starters from SC for two years.

The important thing is that we get TALENT, and it does not matter where it comes from.

Thanks for that.

He's probably not playing no matter what at this point. I know he looked good preseason but you'd have to think he's a definite NBA player to not redshirt him.

AntiFrank- GTFO out what BS. I am anti piss poor recruiting and anti piss poor team management, period.

The reason why people are so pissed at the lack in good instate recruiting is for the simple fact, we do much better with in state kids, and there are good ones to be had. We should NEVER lose instate kids in Bama, Miss, Miss St and Tenn, period.

You should know by now that certain posters here are not humans. They are BOTS. Their posts are the result of an algorithm designed by MIT mathematicians. If OJ Simpson were hired as our running backs coach the algos would immediately post that he was a slam dunk hire.
