![]() Hit his 53rd homerun yesterday
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...home-run-no-53 Stanton has 20 home runs in his past 31 games. NOBODY CARES. This says a lot about the credibility of baseball in the years following the chase McGwire and Sosa conducted almost a generation ago. He also has the misfortune of doing this in the era when baseball has no pop culture resonance. Are we also just waiting for the jacked Stanton to be the next PED face?

![]() Stanton may be the first legit 60 chaser and nobody seems to care.

![]() Nobody cares because he plays for the Marlins. When Judge was crushing the ball the record was all anyone was talking about.
I also don't believe the PED cloud is following him at all. He and Judge are both massive guys. That's how they're built naturally. There's a huge difference in Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa pre PEDs (I don't include McGuire because while he did juice, he was already a fairly big guy). Another reason I don't believe it's getting as much attention is because EVERYBODY is hitting bombs this year. 3 of the top 4 most home runs in a month are from the 2017 season. You have rookies like Bellinger that are making history every night at the plate. I realize some people don't follow the game anymore, but it's actually a really good product on the field right now and fun to watch. |

![]() Yeah, playing for the Marlins does him no favors in the PR department. This run he's on is ridiculous though. Just crushing pitches.

![]() I can honestly say I probably follow MLB more than most. I watch MLB Tonight every night.
The wild card races are phenomenal. The home runs this year are at an all time record. There's a lot of quality on the field. Great stories out there all over the place. Stanton's homeruns are legit. He made an adjustment in his swing which is why he is hitting more HRs now. He is no longer pulling off the ball. Judge has gone in the opposite direction. A lot of Gamecocks are having good years as well including career years for Smoak and Merrifield. |

Smoak is absolutely crushing the ball this season. So glad to see him finally playing up to his potential. I just wish he wasn't with the Blue Jays. |

![]() I'm an long time Oriole fan. And I probably watch a little bit of every game. Not all of it, but some - a few innings. Its fun to watch Machado at 3rd. Schoop is a legit 2nd baseman, and Davis is a great defensive first baseman, but strikes out a lot. Jones and Mancini are also solid and Beef Wellington (Castillo) has been a very nice surprise for us. All comes down to pitching...which is less than average.
I hope I am wrong, but I think the Orioles get left out of the playoffs this year. They need to be 15-9 and their final 24 to have a chance. Starting with winning the next two against NYY at home. |

Wild card race is deep and I think there are better teams than the Orioles. I hope for the Angels because I think the best player in the game deserves a spotlight in the postseason. |

![]() Being in South Florida I have the opportunity to see the Marlins everyday. The new park is fantastic but the death of Jose Fernandez has set them back. I went over for the Cubs series in June and I was surprised how many Marlins fans were in the park. Giancarlo is a special type of player. He is finally having a year where he has stayed healthy. He is just entering the prime of his career. If he stays healthy he has a chance to end up with 600-700 Home Runs.
