Default Blu-rays For Sale

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum but didn't think it applied to Cocky Swap since nothing is Gamecock-related.

I've recently decided to let go of a good portion of my blu-ray collection and have posted the first 80 or so items on eBay (the auctions are scheduled to conclude Saturday 8/12 - Monday 8/14). Please take a look if you're a movie lover or collector of any sorts. I have a little something for everyone and a few pretty collectible/rare items.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw...inusc92&_sop=1

I'll be posting another 60-80 titles once these conclude and I'll update this post when that happens. This batch has most of my larger and more unique items though.

Thanks to anyone that's interested and takes the time to look.

I don't collect but since you put this our there, I thought I would add some info about some players. I just picked up the Samsung K8500 UHD 4K player for $150 off of ebay. Last year it was released for $400. Awesome player. Now I just need to upgrade my AVR and my TV.

Next AVR I buy will be an Anthem, or just take the leap and go full separates.

I have no idea what a bunch of those words mean, lol.

We just got a new tv for our bedroom...took advantage of the tax free weekend and got a 50" 4 k and for like $370. I remarked to my wife that I'm pretty sure that's how much we paid for the tv it's replacing... A 19" regular flat screen from like 1 0-15 years ago, lol. We still have just a regular old DVD player thougn, which I'm looking to upgrade sooner or later, so if you would expound on what those words mean I'd appreciate it.

As for the op, nice collection! I might try and snag the John Wick...we saw the second one now we need to watch the first and buying it used might be around what the rental is...

Gladly.

An AVR is short for Audio Video Receiver, it is used to control your external speakers, Blu ray players, game systems etc. Basically you plug everything into it and then one HDMI to your TV. If you don't have a surround sound system, it really is not necessary. Anthem is often considered the top end brand. Separates refers to using a separate processor and connecting it to a powered amplifier this gets the best possible sound and power for a system. As far as Blu ray players go, don't spend a ton if you only want it to play standard Blu rays, but if you are going to try and future proof the process, get a 4k Blu ray player. The cream of the crop player is the Oppo, but Sony Samsung etc all have players that are a little more budget friendly.

To the OP it is a pretty great collection!

Thanks for the kind words on the collection. I'm still keeping titles that have sentimental value to me (studied in media arts & film) but figured it was time to make some shelf space and a few extra bucks in the process.

Also I'll throw my hat in the ring towards an Xbox One S as a budget 4k blu-ray player since it has many other functions as well and could be a cheap "all in one" solution for some. Standalone players are great too though and serve their purpose for audio/videophiles, so it's more about knowing your wants and needs before you buy one.

Yea, I have been thinking about the same line. Check out Emotiva. Its not Mac but they have great components at a fraction of the cost.

I'm also going to get another turn table. My friend of 40 years reminded me that he still has my collection of vinyls that were obtained through the 70s and 80s.

Besides the Oppo, the xbox is not a cheap alternative but its blu ray capabilities stand right up there with the best. I just don't game so the xbox wasn't for me.

How so? You can find deals on them for $200 (prob cheaper used) if you're not looking for a big bundle. Pretty cheap compared to paying 75-80% of that for something that only plays UHD & Blu-ray Discs. I get gaming not being for everyone, but the feature set to price ratio is 2nd to none in today's 4k market.

Although I can see how the frequent updates and learning curve of the ever-evolving UI would deter buyers only intending to use it for movie watching.

I am familiar with their line up, considered one of their DAC's for my computer speakers. Outlaw Audio is also a very solid bargain if you are considering the separates route. I think for me personally, the ARC room correction that comes with an Anthem AVR is better/faster than anything I could do by hand running separates, and when I am done putting everything together, I won't need 100's of watts per channel.

LOL we totally derailed the OP sorry about that. And I have to say, as an intermediate Bluray player, the new xbox can hold its own, if someone did't want to spend the money for an Oppo.
