KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) Military radar indicates that the missing Boeing 777 jet turned back before vanishing, Malaysia's air force chief said Sunday as authorities were investigating up to four passengers with suspicious identifications who may have boarded the flight.

The revelations add to the uncertainties surrounding the final minutes of flight MH370, which was carrying 239 people when it lost contact with ground controllers somewhere between Malaysia and Vietnam after leaving Kuala Lumpur early Saturday morning bound for Beijing.

A massive international sea has so far turned up no trace of the plane, which lost contact with the ground when the weather was fine, the plane was already cruising and the pilots didn't send a distress signal unusual circumstance for a modern jetliner operated by a professional airline to crash.

Air force chief Rodzali Daud didn't say which direction the plane might have taken or how long for when it apparently went off route.

Makes sense since the pilots apparently issued no mayday call.

A few years ago there was that plane crash where some people thought a missile shot the plane down. Anyone else remember that?

yes,off the coast of New York/New Jersey.............right after takeoff. Witnesses saw an apparent ground to air missle strike the plane in the air. a documentary was made about it. Government/FBI told the witnesses during interviewing them that they hadn't seen anything ........buddy of mine at all watched it. Said gov.coverup

I don't think there is any question that one was accidently shot down by a missle fired from a Navy sub.

That was TWA Flight 800. The evidence that was recovered proved the plane was brought down by an explosion of the nearly empty center fuel tank. But since the explosion occurred at night and resulted in multiple fireballs and trails, the conspiracy folks had a field day.

The fact that the tank was directly over the plane's air conditioning plant, which in turn heated the residual fuel to the point where the slightest spark would set it off, and the plane's wiring was in poor condition and allowed high voltage current to jump to the low voltage line of the fuel tank sensor and cause a fatal spark in the tank is completely ignored by these flakes.

Although this wasn't completely proven, the evidence that the fuel tank exploded from within and that the plane was having electrical problems prior to the explosion is irrefutable.

Speculation now about this flight being struck by a North Korean missile.

I would not put it past NK to pull something like this. The country is psycho, and has been for decades.

You mean their leader doesn't really shoot 18 on 18 holes of golf, bowl 300 games every time, and all the other crazy stuff they say?

Read one stupid article that tried to tie missing shoulder fired missiles from Libya to this. The plane was out at sea and at cruising altitude, I'd bet that would be considered "out of range".

Do you have a link for this? I'm not doubting you, please understand that, but I've been really intrigued and even captivated by this story. It would be interesting to read a report about that happening.

Yeah you're looking at 6km max range give/take with a shoulder-fired SAM.

Where did you see this because I havent seen a single mention. I think you are confusing this with China being angry at them because they came close to accidentally shooting down a plane during a missile test.

Not to mention that most manpads only can hit targets about 12k feet.

Yeah, I thought the range was 2-3 miles, didn't want to google it, would rather not have that on my search history, lol.
