In a VERY small sample SCar did not do that. PERIOD.

I for one am tired of the gunslinger slinging it to the other team in big games.
Of those five, two were off the hands of Dowdle and one was off the hands of 89. The others were the play where vandy dropped the nose guard into coverage (Mizzou ran the same play vs Scar and their nose guard dropped it) and the overthrow at Kentucky after he was hurt. It’s not like he’s going Todd Ellis out there trying to force things in. Three of those are the intended receiver not making the play. Scar, to use your words, gunslung it to the other team TWICE in that small sample size; their guys dropped them.

You talk about exaggeration to make a point; most of you guys just throw way overstated bluster out there and hope something sticks.

SCAR made me feel confident on 3rd downs in a way that Jake never has. It felt kind of like Shaw back there again just doing whatever it took.

Yea he took what the defense gave him. As a smart qb should. That’s one thing I can say about MS-12, he’s not careless with the ball.

It's not like Bent has been playing great and I think we'd all agree that he hasn't progressed as most would have expected plus he has a knee injury. This plays out best with Scar starting and Bent coming in if needed while the knee heals. Sending Bent out first sets him up for a fall that could be big and damaging to future development.

2. I wouldn't have said "irrelevant" but it's not like Scar had his pick and chose Mizz. We needed him, he stepped up and won. Who knows what he'll do against Tamu?

3. If we win with Scar running a limited or different offense and not turning the ball over vs. Bent losing running the complete offense and throwing pics I would argue that the choice between the two is an easy decision.

4. If you don't think that politics influence things, from time to time, within the walls of our athletic dept. then you are mistaken. Whether it is happening here is a matter of debate, but Bent Sr. had to know that if Bent Jr stumbled, this would be brought up on message boards.
1. How do you know who is the hot hand “that day”? You don’t. You start the guy you think gives you the best chance. Clearly, the staff feels like that’s Jake.

2. It matters. 4 of Jake’s losses to ranked teams are against Clemson and Georgia. We wouldn’t have won any of those games with Aaron Rodgers at QB. But Scar comes in against a trash defense and all of a sudden, he’s just automatically better?

3. I continue to say Jake needs to clean up his errant throws in certain situations. But I also think he has ended up taking a lot of the blame for other players’ mistakes. And we’re going to need to run a wide-open offense against A&M. They have a poor pass defense, but they’ve been extremely efficient and get themselves off the field. We will need to move the chains. Now if Scar starts and does that, then fine. But they still didn’t let him go crazy even after he showed he could do the more simple tasks he was given.

4. I’m sure Muschamp is really excited about putting his career, reputation, and family behind Bobby Bentley’s feelings. And I’m sure Bobby Bentley rushed to CockyTalk to see what a bunch of fickle fans had to say about his relationship to our QB.

Yet, you don’t know how percentages work? There’s a reason why they set minimum number of passes to compare completion percentages - to remove outliers. And I’m not falling back on any statistic. I hate statistics. But compared to other college QBs, he’s right there, if not higher than most. The problem is the handful of bad decisions that everybody remembers.

I think the poise that Scarneccia shows during a game is maybe more what our guys need than the excitement we get from Bentley. Shaw had the knack of getting excited when a good play was executed but was able to tone it back down in the huddle. Bentley just gets stoked and lets it carry over into his play.
Scarneccia played a decent game last week and that was what we needed. He admitted he threw some balls that maybe could have been intercepted but weren't. If they had been maybe we wouldn't have been talking about the great job he did. But he also didn't let them effect him and went on the to next play.
I say give him another start and keep Bentley in reserve unless we need him. Besides, how much better would Scarneccia and even Joyner be with another week of practice with the starters?

This game will either be a turning point for Jake to silence the critics or cement his legacy as just an ok QB.

No, the problem is that the frequency and timing of his mistakes cost us games. When it didn't it was because the defense or a penalty bailed him out. And it is not just INTs. Overthrown or underthrown passes, missed receivers and throwing into double or triple coverage. I'm not ready to anoint Scar as the savior at QB, but Jake has to improve his play. If he can.

Question: Drew Locke; acknowledged NFL prospect, network, media, and NFL scouts golden boy.

Plenty of underthrown/overthrown/into double coverage. Without dumb one liners, what do you think of HIS performance Saturday.

Simple.....

Jake starts off every game by over-throwing receivers and putting too much zip on the ball, resulting in drops, bobbles and pick sixes. Normally reliable receivers drop the ball early. And we quickly dig a hole that is too deep to climb out of.

Start Scar and let him play the First Quarter. Then put in Jake - he plays much better after the First Quarter and the game will still be close.

Let Scar be Allen Mitchell and Jake be Mike Hold. Hey - it worked, right?

He got outplayed by a back-up who was starting his first game.

And that's not a dumb one-liner.

We are also one of the top passing defenses in the league. Not saying that means everything, but just pointing it out to consider.

Yet we give no credit to opponents “outplaying” us to use your words, and attribute it to Bentley “mistakes” and shortcomings. That about right?

Recklessly heaving the ball into tight double coverage when others are wide open isn't "getting outplayed" by your opponents. It's called "making a poor decision."
