Just curious, what are the crowds typically like at the games? Was thinking of going next Sat when they play Wake Forest.

I'll defer to scfastpitch for the details since he attends a lot of the games; would expect it to be a pretty good crowd since Wake is ranked #11 according to the preview for tonight's game and we should hopefully be ranked soon

FWIW the online schedule lists the Wake game as Tuesday the 18th. Saturday is hosting UAB

Going down to FIU tonight, and as always nothing can be taken for granted in a road conference match

http://www.gamecocksonline.com/sport...100916aaa.html

The South Carolina men’s soccer team (7-3 overall, 2-0 C-USA) heads south for a Conference USA match at FIU (3-6-1 overall, 1-2 C-USA) Monday night, looking to extend a six-match win streak that dates back to a 2-1 overtime win vs. Georgia Southern on Sept. 13. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 8, but was moved back due to inclement weather from Hurricane Matthew.

“It’s a tough game in conference. It’s a road game in conference," said Head Coach Mark Berson. “FIU is a tremendous team. They have great attacking talent. They’re very good defensively. They’re very well organized, well coached – just a very solid team. We’re getting ready for a really tough game on Monday night."

Carolina leads the all-time series with FIU 13-0-4. Since joining the conference in 2005, the Gamecocks are 8-0-3 vs. the Panthers. Last season, South Carolina won 2-0 in Columbia.

SCOUTING FIU

The Panthers have lost four-straight matches, three of which were against ranked opponents in No. 11 Wake Forest, No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast and No. 15 Kentucky. The other loss was to New Mexico, who received 36 votes in this week’s NSCAA poll. The team’s most recent loss came on Oct. 4 when they fell to FGCU 4-1 at home. FIU is led by Santiago Patino, who leads the team in points with 14 on seven goals. Five other players are tied for second on the team with one goal. Patino leads the team in shots with 26 and shots on goal with 15. Brad Fountain ranks second with 16 shots and eight shots on goal. Goalkeeper Arthur Clapot has started all 10 games logging 27 saves. He has allowed 19 goals on the year. The Panthers average 12.1 shots per game and have tallied 48 corner kicks. The team has scored 12 goals on 121 shot attempts so far in 2016.

A 0-0 draw. Overall we had a few more chances with a 5-3 shots on goal advantage and 7-2 on corner kicks. The biggest play though was Pyle making the save on a penalty kick in the 108th minute

Haven't been to a men's match since early in the season but their attendance is usually pretty good . Paid attendance for the last home game (vs Marshall) was 2437 . Maybe a few no-shows in that but not too many .

As usual, Gamecocks love them some Gamecock sports!

South Carolina leads the C-USA in average home attendance with a total of 21,006 through 7 home games thus far, or an average of 3,001 per home game. That's well above any other C-USA member: Kentucky, the other SEC program who's soccer team plays in the C-USA, is 2nd in the league with 11,529 total attendance through 7 games, for a 1,647 per-game average.

New Mexico and Charlotte are the only other C-USA schools to crack the 1,000 per-game mark for their home games. The others are all jokes.

Of course, we set the all-time attendance record in the season-opener against Clemson, where we almost doubled the capacity maximum of Stone Stadium. The last 3 home matches against Georgia State, High Point, and Marshall averaged 2,385, so you can probably expect a crowd of that size. More so for the Wake Forest game Tuesday than for UAB, as they have a larger fan-base and probably will be an easier drive down than from Alabama. And they are ranked too. We do have a bye-week this week for football, so then again there could be a good crowd show up for UAB, especially if the weather is good.

Our Gamecocks are currently 2nd in the league at 2-0-1 currently - trailing Charlotte who's 3-1-0 - but has their work cut out for them the rest of the way. They play UAB Saturday, who's 3rd in the C-USA at 2-1-1 currently, so a win at home against the Blazers would be sizable.

USC is also scheduled to play Wake Forest Tuesday at home: the Demon Deacons are currently ranked #7 per the NSCAA Coaches poll, as well as #14 and league-leader Charlotte on the 26th, at New Mexico (who received votes in this week's poll) on the 30th, and close out the season hosting #20 Kentucky on November 4th.

The ideal news for us is, 4 of the final 6 games of the season (UAB, WF, Charlotte, UK) will be played at Stone Stadium, and those are the four toughest of the final 6 as well (New Mexico could be argued as being tougher than UAB), so it's as best-case scenario for the team as can possibly be.

Here is the latest stats for C-USA in men's soccer. USC is one of the more aggressive offensive teams of the league, ranking in the top 2-3 in most categories:

http://conferenceusa.com/documents/2..._Standings.pdf

Here is the league website for anyone who's interested:

Did we at least get votes in the polls? I know we got off to a crappy start but we've been playing well against halfway decent competition for the most part (although tying at FIU probably didn't help tbh)

Big conference matchup hosting UAB tonight, on WatchESPN at 7:00

http://www.gamecocksonline.com/sport...101416aac.html

The Gamecock men's soccer program (7-3 overall, 2-0-1 C-USA) looks to extend a seven-match unbeaten streak Saturday night at home as it plays host to UAB in a crucial Conference USA matchup. South Carolina and UAB are tied for second in the conference standings with seven points.

"I think Saturday night's game with UAB will be another typical very high intensity, hard fought Conference USA match," said Head Coach Mark Berson. "UAB comes into the match with two great results in their last three outings, defeating Kentucky, who's a top-15 team, defeating Santa Clara -- they're on their stride right now. They're always a very good team. Our matches with them are always really close and exciting. I think it will be another typical South Carolina vs. UAB match on Saturday night."

The Blazers have yet to win a match on the road this season as they're 0-2-2 away from the friendly confines of BBVA Compass Field. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series 11-5-1 and are 3-2-0 in the last five meetings between the schools. Carolina won last year 1-0 on the road in the team's conference opener.

UAB is led by goalkeeper Joe Kuzminsky. He's started all 13 games for the Blazers, posting 54 saves and five shutouts. He ranks No. 5 in the nation with a .871 save percentage and No. 19 in goals against average at 0.585. His 54 saves rank 21st in the country amongst keepers.

SCOUTING UAB

The Blazers return 12 letterwinners and eight starters from a team that went 5-11-0 overall and 2-6-0 in C-USA play last season. UAB's best win this season came on Oct. 8, when it knocked off No. 15 Kentucky 2-1 at home. The Blazers have a fairly balanced attack offensively. Massimo Ferrin and Henrique Sposito are tied for the team lead in points with seven. Each of them has scored a team-best three goals with one assist. Tarnue Tyler and Rami Dajani are tied for second on the team in goals with two. Five other players have scored a goal for the Blazers. Philip Makinde leads the team in assists with two. Goalkeeper Joe Kuzminsky has started all 13 games in the net for UAB. He's been one of the best goalies in the nation and ranks No. 5 in the country with a .871 save percentage and No. 19 in goals against average at 0.585. Kuzminsky's 54 saves through 13 games rank No. 21 in the nation in total saves for goalies.

Awesome! We are now at the top of C-USA Standings. Why doesn't the SEC have Men's Soccer? Seems strange.

I miss going to the games. I used to go to a few each year when I was young. we had some good matches with Clemson back then. They always had these guys from Africa. Seemed like one of them was always the FG kicker for the football team. That was during the Ford years.

We are hosting #7 Wake Forest this Tuesday night. WF beat #4 Louisville yesterday. They will be a top 5 team this week when we play them. A win would definitely get us in the Top 25 and
help our post season chances.

Four of our last 5 opponents are ranked at this time.

Big matchup tonight hosting #7 Wake Forest (guess the rankings haven't updated or they didn't move up as you would have thought)

http://www.gamecocksonline.com/sport...101716aac.html

South Carolina (8-3-1 overall, 3-0-1 C-USA) looks to extend an eight-match unbeaten streak on the pitch Tuesday evening as it welcomes perennial ACC power No. 7 Wake Forest (10-2-2 overall, 4-1-1 ACC) to the friendly confines of Stone Stadium. It’ll be the 33rd all-time meeting between the two storied soccer programs. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

"I think Wake Forest year-in and year-out has got one of the best teams in college soccer," said Head Coach Mark Berson. “It’s a great series. They have a great program. It’s a wonderful place to play up there in Winston-Salem (N.C.), so we enjoy our series with them. They come in here with a great win over Louisville, so it’ll be a really tough game. I think they’re very similar to us in the style that they play and the way that they play. It’ll be very interesting for these two teams to lineup and kind of see how the match goes. Hopefully our fans at home will make a big difference for us."

The Demon Deacons lead the all-time series with the Gamecocks, 15-12-5. The two teams last met on October 27, 2012 in Winston-Salem, N.C., with Wake Forest coming away the victor 3-1. The Deacs have picked off right where they left off last season after going 17-3-2 and advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Championship a year ago. Wake Forest has been able to stifle opponents defensively this season as they come into Tuesday night’s matchup with the top-ranked team goals against average in the nation at 0.48.

Tuesday night is Gamecock Club Appreciation Night at The Graveyard, and all Gamecock Club members will receive FREE admission to the match. $1 hot dogs will also be available at the concessions stand for fans.

SCOUTING No. 7 Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons return eight starters this season from a team that went 17-3-2 overall in 2015 and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Championship. Wake Forest has picked up right where it left off last season and is 10-2-2, fresh off a 2-1 win over No. 2 Louisville on October 15 in Winston-Salem. The Deacons have a very balanced offensive attack as nine different players have scored goals this season for them. Jacori Hayes leads the team in points (12), goals (5), shots on goal (22) and is tied for second on the team in assists (2). Ema Twumasi and Ian Harkes are tied for second on the team in goals with three. Harkes’ three goals were all game-winners, which leads the team. Sam Raben leads the team with three assists. Wake Forest is one of the best defensive teams in the nation and sports the top-ranked team GAA at 0.48. Goalkeeper Alex Ferrell is 6-1-2 in the net for the Deacs with 27 saves and five shutouts. Ferrell’s 0.529 GAA ranks No. 8 nationally.

0-0 at the half. WF outshooting us 10-4 and 2-1 shots on goal, but that one shot required an incredible diving save by their goalie. Looking good overall so far.

Going up to ODU tonight; looks like video is only available on their site

http://www.gamecocksonline.com/sport...102116aaa.html

South Carolina (8-3-1 overall, 3-0-1 C-USA) travels northeast this weekend to face Old Dominion (3-5-2 overall, 0-2-1 C-USA) in a critical Conference USA matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday night as the Gamecocks will look to remain alone at the top of the C-USA standings.

“It’s a big match for us," said Head Coach Mark Berson. "It's at Old Dominion, which is always a challenge. Any conference game on the road is going to be a challenging game. Old Dominion is a very good team. They were the conference champions two years ago. They beat us in the championship final. We have a lot of respect for them. We know what they’re capable of as a team. They’re a very well coached and well disciplined team. It’s on the road, so we’ve got a lot of things that we’re going to have to work hard to overcome Saturday night."

ODU leads the all-time series with Carolina 4-3-0. Over the last the four meetings, the teams have split matches 2-2. Last season, the Gamecocks defeated the Monarchs 3-1 on Halloween night at Stone Stadium.

South Carolina remains the lone unbeaten team in C-USA play at 3-0-1 with a one point edge in the standings over No. 9 Charlotte, 10-9.

HUGE conference matchup tonight hosting UNC-Charlotte!

http://www.gamecocksonline.com/sport...102516aab.html

No. 25 South Carolina (9-4-1 overall, 4-0-1 C-USA) squares off with No. 8 Charlotte (9-2-1 overall, 4-1-0 C-USA) Wednesday night at Stone Stadium in a huge Conference USA match for sole position of first place in the standings. The Gamecocks re-entered the NSCAA Coaches Top-25 Poll this week after being unranked since the second week of the season.

"It's a big game. Every year it's always an important game with Charlotte," said Head Coach Mark Berson. "Year after year the two teams are usually right up there in the standings. This will be a big match. Charlotte comes in with a really good record and a really good performance. It'll be a tough game, and our guys are really looking forward to it."

Carolina remains the only unbeaten team in C-USA heading into Wednesday’s top-25 clash. The Gamecocks hold a one point edge over the 49ers in the standings right now.
Charlotte heads into the match fresh off a dominant 5-0 victory over C-USA foe UAB last Saturday. Brandt Bronico, who was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, had his first career hat trick vs. the Blazers. Bronico scored three goals on just four shots.

SCOUTING Charlotte

The 49ers head in to Wednesday night’s match fresh off a 5-0 win vs. UAB in their last outing. Charlotte swept the conference awards last week as Bronico earned C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors after his hat trick and Luke Waechter was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the team's defense to consecutive shutouts. Waechter is an integral part of a defense that is one of the best in the country. Charlotte leads the nation in team goals against average at 0.40. Goalkeeper Elliot Panicco will be one of the top keepers South Carolina has seen this season. He ranks second in the nation in save percentage at .884 and second in the country in goals against average at 0.402. The 49ers have eight shutouts this season, good for the second best shutout percentage clip in the country at 0.67. Charlotte is also one of the nation’s top scoring offenses, averaging 2.17 goals per game, which leads C-USA and ranks eighth in the country. Bronico leads the team in points with 16 (6G, 4A). Marco Sunol-Rojas (4G, 3A) and Harrison Steadman (5G) also have tallied double-digit points this year for Charlotte. The 49ers well-balanced offensive attack features six players with multiple goals on the year.
