Default 2016 HS Boys BB Championship: Abbeville defeats Timberland 58-55

Abbeville's captain and leading scorer was 6'3" SR G Joseph Battle, now a FR with Tulsa for the upcoming 2016-17 season.





He was also captain and QB of Abbeville's football team and led the Panthers to their state championship win over Silver Bluff that I posted here last season.

Battle has the rare distinction of being the captain of state championship teams in two different sports for the same HS in the same year.

Joseph was South Carolina's Gatorade MBB HS Player of the Year last year. Tulsa HC Frank Haith offered Battle a scholarship after watching Abbeville dismantle Blacksburg 84-59, courtesy of Battle's 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the Upper State playoffs in Erskine College's gymnasium at tiny Due West, SC.

His only offer prior to that was from Coastal...
