I think we'll be surprised with who he helps bring in for the 2018 class. Maybe he'll have a say so over a recruit or two this year. Hard to make an huge impact in a month's time.

His first and only class here was a hit.

This late in the process, he's going to likely go after recruits already interested in the program.

Will be interesting what he does with 2018 and 2019. Those will be good examples of who he wants to recruit and what kind of players he's wanting.

Going to be hard to make much of an impact in terms of getting us in the game with new prospects for the 2017 class unless they're the under the radar types but his judgement on those types was very strong. The 2018 class I think will be pretty solid, his classes will get better the longer he is here due to relationships. It will be a nice selling point to say he has NFL experience, kids will eat that up.

I would like to see 4 O Linemen in this class. If Wolford can firm up our three current commits and land a 4th quality player, we will be fine.

Looking ahead, he is a good recruiter and evaluator, and could open up some new recruiting areas in the Midwest. The 2018 class will say a lot about his impact.

I agree with this especially about his Midwest ties and being able to bring in guys that we may not otherwise have a chance to get. But being realistic, this is not going to happen overnite.

I have a feeling that he will be looking real hard at some JUCO players for quick impact players.

Well it is safe to say that his alma mater will not be calling and that was the only reason he left last time, to bring this up is irresponsible IMO

His alma mater from his home state came calling with an HC job and you're saying that's screwing us? I don't know how many assistants would turn that down. Unless an HC job gets dropped on his lap I expect him here for at least 2-3 years possibly for much much longer.

Wolford is a great coach and a better person. He will be great with the parents of potential OL prospects. Forget about the guy who said he screwed us he got his dream job and took it. No one can complain about this. And if you speak against his character then you haven't clue about Wolford. A first class man. I meant this as a reply Yancey and not gotrice.

SOS told him that he wasn't ready. He was right. We could have gotten a quality OL coach instead of Wolford. We were left in the lurch and had to settle for less. It was the start of the OL demise. Many people went out of their way to provide support for his son. Many of those subsequently felt taken advantage of. Perhaps to be expected given his job llength history. Hopefully he will do well and stay here longer this time around.

You're actually pissed at him for taking an HC job at his alma mater? I'd get it if you're talking about a lateral move but position coach to FCS coach at a top FCS program is a step up. Throw in his alma mater being the school and I don't get how anyone can be pissed about him for leaving.

...it was his hometown calling. He would have regretted staying at USC more than regretting trying and failing at YSU. Such decisions usually leave behind some regrets as well...almost all coaching decisions are like this.

Us armchair QBs can always sit back and 2nd guess their decisions....especially with hindsight vision.

Yancey our o-line problems started day 1 with Spurrier when he hired John Hunt. Wolford was a great hire at the time when our o-line ranked at the bottom of div 1 football. You really can't blame him for taking a head coaching job in his home state. I doubt that any position coach would have turned down that opportunity.

Yep. How that '07 OL recruiting class turned out is still a head shaker. I was so glad when we recovered from a lot of that.

Nice! So it was Wolfie who promoted Garrett to start on our OL. I remember Garrett holding pictures of his deceased parents during Sr. player presentations at the end of the '10 season.

Yeah the most successful coach in our history always had OLine problems and only put more OLine in the NFL during his tenure here then all the other coaches before him did. We had the best offenses in our history under SOS but the OLine was always a problem? I think some exaggerate a little and find it easy to say if our OLine had been better we would have been All World but the Oline did not miss any FG's, throw any INT's or fumble one ball much less let the other offense score to win a game but hey every one has an opinion!

Agree! We have some all or nothing fans. We either suck or are the best (most of those fans just say we are horrible...facilities, OL, coaches, players, etc.).

Its like what Lou Holtz used to say.....things aren't ever quite as good or bad as they seem. Our OL's may never have been a strength of our teams with SOS or Elliot but they werent as bad as some make them out to be. It would be nice for OL and DL to be strengths for our team and hopefully one day soon with Muschamp they both will be.
