Default Did Roxette's "Pretty Woman" song steal from Travis Tritt's "Help Me Hold On"?

This is Travis Tritt's song, released in 1990.

And this is Roxette's song, released in 1992.

Specifically, listen to the hook of both songs. It sounds oddly similar (or the same).

Not sure what you mean when you say hook but the chord progression during the chorus may be similar. The Travis tritt song is way more complex.
It must have been love: G,C,Am,D,,,G,C,Am,D

Help me hold on:D,G,C,,,C,Am7,D,G,,,G,C,,,C,G/B,Am7,D,G

Ehhh ...... I can hear what you're hearing, But IMO it's not so close that it makes a case for
them being the same. Nothing that you could use to build a case for Perjury if Travis
decided to take it to court. There have been songs with a lot closer hooks / basic lines
that have gone to court and gotten ruled against than this one.

Yep...one or two identical chord changes don't make plagiarism. Typically it's the melody or even words that get people into trouble.

BTW...always thought that Roxette song was well produced.

Perjury is lying after being sworn in or taking an oath to tell the truth, whether it be in court, or during a deposition. You are thinking of plagiarism, which is also wrong for court. What Travis would sue for is copyright infringement if he is seeking money.

To the OP, the chorus seems to be heavily influenced by Tritt's song.

One song is about holding on....the other about love being over. The words, melody, and most of the chords are completely indifferent.
