Default GAMES LOST WITH JOSH ALLOWING HR'S

I gotta ask this and i'm not bashing a player. But how many games have we lost by allowing HR's the last 3 years with Reagan on the mound in the 8th-9th innings?

Thats 3 important games this year, just seems he throws batting practice at times or appears like it, coaches should notice this in my opinion. I just dont see how we keep allowing this to happen because it happens way to often, opinons please?

I know this sounds like 20/20 hindsight, but in my opinion you do not leave a left handed reliever in to pitch to a right power hitter with 2 outs and a 2 run lead. Factor in that Reagan had thrown near 50 pitches, and that the hitter was a freshman. The freshman has probably not seen that many high 90's fast ball, or a really good breaking ball. I thought at the time it was time to bring in a new pitcher. I really like to watch Reagan pitch, but he was tiring and that is when he gives up the long ball.

He is responsible for everything that goes on with this team. I know what you are saying, but Holbrook is accountable for it all. To say that he is not, then why do we need a Head Coach?

Come on now, that really doesnt hold much water. That automatically implies that Chad has no power to make a command decision when even the novice can see that a change needed to be made. Your also saying that Coach Jerry Myers trumps what the head coach may want.

I dont believe that for a second. i will just say that if tanner is coach that pitching change would be made.

Not what she's meaning... most head coaches, while yes they are over everything, they defer to the position coach for things like that... similar to how Muschamp is leaving the Offense to Roper. Yes there are some that involve themselves in all areas, such as how Spurrier did.

Is he over the entire team, yes, however usually that a decision left to the ones that work with them day in and day out in that specific area.

That was my point is that he's going to trust in his assistants.

He has given up 4 homers this year in 22.2 innings. 23.5% of the hits off him have been home runs. Compared to 12.5% for Bowers and 9.01% for R. Scott, and 21.4% for Graham Lawson.

Just some stats to digest.

Jerry had the same power when Ray was coach. He made the pitching decisions.

Stats can be made or used to say what you want them to say though. The answer to lowering Reagan's percentage is to give up a lot more base hits? Thats shooting your nose to spit your face.

Personally, I just wish fans would let this season play out and go from there. We all know that one or two games in a long season mean very little. If we have a somewhat bad season and Holbrook refuses to start making some changes, then I will happily join the fire Holbrook crowd, but I'm not there yet.

A lot of our fans have very selective memory when it comes to Ray Tanner. It's hard for them to look back prior to 2009 when some fans were calling for his head and he blew some games.

We gave Tanner the time needed to get it right and just because our fans are now spoiled doesn't mean we should fire a good coach because we feel we are owed the CWS every season.

Tanner got mad lucky alot, including on his run to those titles. It was a fun as hell ride and he had a great mix of players, but his strategy wasnt always the best. We even back then were a bad baserunning team and struggled to bunt. Small ball wasnt our best attribute when it became a necessity. Tanners uncanny ability to call hit and runs though was very clutch, and his defenses/ defensive positioning was always top knotch.

I've been around this program longer than most, and I still can't figure out why some have that kind of attitude. And God Forbid you try to give examples of other programs, more elite than we, that don't get there every year.

CWS is NOT guaranteed. We are a program that, at the very least, making a Regional, not necessarily hosting, is the only thing we should consider a (for lack of a better word) "guarantee".

Tanner definitely had a few seasons that everything just came together and he seemed to guess right.

Frank Martins MBB reminded me of them a lot this season where you just seem to get the timely play or good bounce at the right time.

Like you, I've also followed them for a long time now. We definitely had some bad seasons in our past.

My beliefs in what we should expect are as follows:
- make a Regional EVER year.
- host the Regional 3 out of every 4 years
- make a Super Regional 2 out of every 4 years
- make the CWS 1 out of every 4 years.

To me that is realistic for an elite program like USC. Honestly, at this stage of the game I wouldn't really put any other college baseball programs ahead of ours. Yes, if you go by all time titles or wins there are numerous that are way ahead of us, but if you go by past 20 years it would be hard to find many that are much more successful than USC has been.

Certainly LSU is the gold standard of the last 20 years. And even they don't make it every year.

All-time I'd say SoCal, Miami, Stanford, LSU off the top of my head.

Not that it is just one school, but the list of top 7 STATES as far as titles and appearances actually has the state of South Carolina coming in 7th and the article was a few months before Coastal won theirs.

http://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/ar...ries-trips-and

Add to that the fact that most of those states are much larger than the state of SC and I definitely think we have more than held our own.
