Sound bar is a must. Waited a bit to add the sound bar and it was hard to hear the tv without turning it way up. Sonos is sick, btw. Highly recommend, but it isnt cheap.
Did you use a calibration disk? If so which do you like?

I am going to piggyback on this thread. I have an old 5.1 1000 watt Sony Home Theater In a Box set up that still works well but the receiver doesn't have HDMI capability so I know I am most likely not getting the best audio that I can get. My question is if I decide to go with a soundbar in the future, will I be disappointed after being having used the 5.1 setup for so long, or is there not that much of a difference? Honestly I never notice much primary sound from my two rear speakers unless I have multichannel selected as the output. Most of the output seems to come from the two front and middle speakers plus the bass from the sub.

IMO, If you have already run the wires, get a real AVR and some decent speakers, will blow both the HTIB and a dinky sound bar out of the water.

before you buy a smart tv get the guy in the store to actually show you how to turn off the tru motion or whatever that brand calls it.

these tvs come with an awkward picture that gives a soap opera effect..mine will change in my menu with no problem but my father in law cannot get his to turn off. i am good with that stuff and cant even fix it for him. i dont know the answer..watching movies is annoying as hell..makes his tv worthlesss.

My cousin's tv does this. I always thought it looked like a soap opera and it is annoying. I didn't know it was an actual feature.

Reading this Thread has given me TV envy. My main TV is an LG 60" Smart PLASMA. It was manufactured the last year they were made about 6 years ago.

It has a GOOD picture, about 7 on a scale of 1-10. I am trying to justify to my wife replacing it. I visited my brother who has a new 60" Samsung Curved OLED TV. I fell in love, I have always been a electronics, computer,
TV addict.

I also wouldn't mind going up from 60" to 70". What justification can I give my wife????

I know what oleds are capable of but explain how that helps now.. everything is broadcast in 720pn or 1080i..those store displays have a special loop they run in order to fool us into thinking thats the quality we would get at home...it just isnt..

Hell, i have a 1080p and the only way i see the tvs full res isvon bluray, youtube 1080p short clips or an occasional directvtv on demand rental..

A better picture is a better picture plus there are plenty items found in 4KUHD. Some of my best shows on Netflix are 4K as is a lot of live sports. BluRay is also quite good.

Good deal! I picked up this 43" one for the bedroom last summer and it has been fantastic. I pay Netflix a couple of bucks extra for HD streaming. Even the base sound on it was good without the sound bar.

I would seriously consider the LG OLED over the Samsung. I had multiple people tell me the same and convinced me to get the LG and it is an awesome tv. Either th you need a sound bar too.

I like LG brand current TV and Smart Phone are LG. I have 8/1 surround sound system for TV. 8 Speakers and 1 amped subwoofer. I can if I choose also send the TV sound thru my 5.1 computer sound system over an optical hard wire. That system sits by my Chair.
