You'll notice it more with action movies and some sports.

120 hz can reduce motion blur, I am not sure refresh rate higher than that are worth it.

If you can't tell the difference then save the money and get the 60 hz. 120 is better though.

if you can afford it go for 120. I have the LG OLED and they have their own technology which is superb.

Not cheap, but the best displays on the market at the moment.

It depends on your content & personal preference mostly. If you plan to watch a lot of movies on a 60hz TV then it'll have to interpolate some of the frames to make the motion look fluid (since 24fps doesn't factor into 60hz evenly). Some people are sensitive to this and prefer a steady flow of motion.

Screen tearing is the main issue you'll find with gaming, but also pay attention to input lag since some 4k tvs can be pretty bad in that regard.

Also don't be fooled by marketing gimmick words like "TruMotion 120" or something like that when it's only 60hz native.

thanks guys. What confuses people is the misinformation or things they say at the store to get you to buy a more expensive tv. Example is HDR..the guy said i definitely need that because it will show so much more detail than plain 4k..up to a million colors..

so, i decide on one and then he says "just because a tv has hdr doesnt mean it is the best tv to actually display all the colors properly". What? Then he started talking about backlighting and making sure i got the most backlights to amply show the spectrum of colors..He then mentioned something known as "full array". Then he explained that to me. Of course, that tv was another $300. It never ends.

I think i am just going to sit on my hands and watch my Lg 42" 1080p tv with blu ray for another year! Hell, it has a damn good picture.

He’s not wrong. Full array LED displays are considered the next best thing to OLED because it allows LED TVs to manage backlight brightness in all areas of the screen (“local dimming”). Most LED TVs are edge-lit which causes light bleed throughout dark areas of images. In essence, full array gives you deeper blacks and cleaner/sharper whites. OLED TVs are superior because each pixel is lit independently.

This goes more in depth about backlighting, but I highly recommend this site as a resource for all things 4k TVs.

Why put a cap on the growth of technology?

Aside from its inevitable role in advancing military weaponry, I don't see a negative in technology progressing all other facets of life; especially entertainment.

But I'm a millennial, so constant tech upgrades is all I've known.

I prefer the regular square TV. The new ones are all rectangle and make the picture look all stretched out.

Honestly, if you are going to spend the money on a new tv, HDR is important and really has more impact on the picture quality than the resolution.

With TV's you can spend as much or as little as you want, but in that same vein, you get what you pay for.

Keep in mind, your picture quality is also only as good as the weakest link in your system, if you are only watching broadcasts in 1080 and watching blurays, than stick with a 1080p tv. If you plan on getting a new 4k player and are really into movies than a new high end display might be a better fit. For me personally, I love my 50" plasma, I have it calibrated and at my seating distance of 13 feet would put it's pq up against any of the entry level 4k displays. To me, a good surround sound system is just as if not more important to the immersive experience, and unlike tv's, a good set of speakers will last you 30 years.
