This is an interesting update.

You can now access all your favorite web content on the big screen, including YouTube, Facebook, and Reddit. Use your Fire TV remote buttons to easily search, navigate, play, pause, and fast forward web videos. Simply search for Firefox or Silk on your Fire TV and download the app to get started.

Wow, I must be naive, but I didn't know you could pay 147 dollars just for Cable/Satellite not counting internet. Did you have every premium channel and NFL ticket or something?

I don't think a dish won't be good at our house. Too many tall trees all around.

That was my concern too. Doesn't seem to bother it though. They will check out your location for free and let you know.

Interesting what people now say they cannot live without....dvr, pausing live tv...are these things we really need? For the record, my family has never had them, I see no reason to get them. with On demand feature I can find a show if I miss it. Still baffled by pausing live tv...I have been over houses that have it, but with all the apps and stuff if we pause a football game I still get notifications on my phone so it doesnt have any value to me. Go ahead and sell it to me...
It is more of a want than a need.

Leather seats, cruise control, bluetooth, smart phones, automatic drives, power windows...are these really necessary or can't loive without needs...the list goes on.

NO, go to Directv on line some of their packages go to more than $173 plus Tax. No NFL Ticket. Directv offers discount prices for 12 months than jumps to full price and you are forced to pay by contract for another year.

Sling orange $20, Orange Sports Package $5, DVR $5. I pay $10 more for a group of channels for more than 50 channels. My price total is $47 includes tax.
I get more channels than HULU, Directv Now or YouTube or any other streaming service.

I had been paying $147 Directv/$65 Spectrum Internet for $212. I save $100 monthly.

I think you guys who saved so much were just getting worked by cable providers. When we had TWC, I routinely called every 6 months, complained about the price, threatened to leave, and then they drop the cost without changing the lineup.

I was going to say the same thing. I tried out sling last year, because AT&T was costing me over $210 a month. I wasn't completely satisfied with the offering, but was going to do it because of the extra savings. I called At&T, telling them I intended to cancel the TV subscription (but leave the internet through them). They essentially refused to let me cancel, so I told them where I wanted to be in terms of price. Not only did they knock my bill down to $150 a month, but they also upgraded me to their fastest internet that they offer here in Atlanta. I think most companies are willing to work with you in this regard, especially considering most are losing tons of subscribers right now.

You can do that with Directv too, but you have to go thru CS then Sales and Sales Mgr. I simply got tired of arguing with them every few months.

Its easy to do. If you factor in multiple set top boxes that require a monthly rental fee, and packages, it gets expensive quickly.

Default ROKU

thinking on trying this.....my oldest daughter really likes it at her house. Have Charter Spectrum now as a pkg deal.....phone/cable/internet...seems to keep inching upwards as far as price.....I've always gotten great advice on here on any questions that I have asked for advice for. Hoping ya'll can help me out once again.....just a few questions, and thanks for the replies.......

Which stick, streaming device will I need? am keeping internet (alot of ROKU devices to choose from)
as I understand, no monthly charges for ROKU?
Can I use multiple tv's,and if so will I need two devices and accounts?
What about live tv,especially sporting events?
If I sign up for more stuff off of ROKU will I end up as high as I am now?
Quality of pic as good as cable HD?
Thanks guys...........ya'll never steered me wrong before! Just wanna make sure Im gonna be happy with this before I do it! lol

Most Insignia and Sharp TVs have Roku built in.
If you get a stick, you will need one for each TV.
Right. No monthly charges.
For live TV, you will probably want to sign up for a streaming service (Sling, PSVue, Youtube TV, etc.) That would be your monthly charge. I have PSVue and it includes WatchESPN. I'm pretty sure Sling includes it too.
Video quality is very good. Just make sure you have a good router.
