Not to any big degree. However we do try to substitute whole for refined grains, particularly sprouted grains. I try to buy fresh instead of processed foods. This is probably much harder for you to do over on the rock. Frozen veggies have the same benefits though. In fact they can be better in that they are picked and flash frozen at the peak of harvests. That can change the texture although modern methods have vastly improved that.

I have done paleo diets in the past. The best I can do is last about one month. I love how it makes me feel inside but I turn into an asshole. It is no doubt a healthy way to live but it is difficult. I am with Yancey...I always substitute fresh for processed. I have cut all artificial sweeteners from my diet and significantly limited sugar. I have severely limited gluten as well but my biggest hold up is beer. I have tried many gluten free beers but it is hard.

I hope that you are recovering well...we will be in Exuma in March so I can't wait to make it to the bahamas for some R and R.
