Default The 2019 Class of South Carolina Recruits

Columbia, SC (Future150) -- The 2019 class of South Carolina is one of the most talented classes the state has seen in quite some time, loaded with potential high major recruits.

1.|*Christian Brown, 6'7" CF, A.C. Flora High School:*Already holding offers from the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, and Kansas, he is clearly a very special player. He plays well beyond his years and has a ridiculous motor that allows him to dominate the glass on both ends and finish above the rim. With his size, explosiveness, versatility, and elite finishing abilities, he will no doubt be collecting more blue blood offers as time goes on.*

2.|*Juwan Gary, 6'6" SF, Gray Collegiate:*Gary is an alumnus of Future150's Elite24 Camp, and ever since the staff saw him in August of 2014, we knew that he had star potential written all over him. He is a freak athlete, an extremely hard worker on the glass, as well as on the defensive end. He has vastly improved his jumper over the past year and is becoming more and more of a three-level scoring threat. He currently sports offers from Clemson, East Carolina, UNLV, and Western Kentucky. Expect that offer list to grow rapidly during the upcoming AAU season.*

3.|*Josiah James, 6'6" PG, Porter-Gaud:*James put himself on the map this past summer after having a breakout AAU season with TMP Elite. At 6'6", he can control the tempo of the game, make crisp, accurate passes, and knock down shots from all over the floor. It would be nice to see him add a bit more bulk to his frame, but the ceiling for the Charleston product is ridiculous. He currently holds offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, and Texas A&M among others. It will be very interesting to see his growth and how much better he gets before he continues his career at the collegiate level.*

4.|*D.J. Burns, 6'9" PF, York Prep:*Arguably the best big man in the state regardless of class. A massive space eater down low at 6'9", 240 pounds, he has great footwork and loves to bully smaller, weaker defenders. He has no problem finishing above the rim and has become more effective on offense being able to knock down short jumpers when the defense is doubling him or packing the lane against him. Burns currently holds offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech, to name a few.*

5.|*Deuce Dean, 6'3" PG, Dutch Fork High School:*Dean is a flatout playmaker, to put it simply. The 6'3" floor general has fantastic handles and maybe sees the game better than any of his fellow PG's in South Carolina. He hasn't got too much national attention up to this point, but it won't be surprising to see his name surging this summer. Holding just two offers right now (The Citadel and Virginia Tech) Dean will be ending his AAU season with a lot more on his list.

6.|*Tommy Bruner, 6'1" SG, Gray Collegiate:*The younger brother of current Yale Bulldog, Jordan Bruner, Tommy is starting to make a name for himself nationally as well. Not as big or long as his older brother, Bruner stands around 6'1" but still finds multiple ways to affect the game. He is a great on-ball defender and unselfish player on offense. He has the ability to score from all three levels, but like most guards his age, he will need to try to bulk up before he takes his game to the next level. Make sure you keep an eye on the younger Bruner who currently holds offers from East Carolina and Wyoming.*

7.|*Calvin Felder, 6'7" SF, Sumter High School:*Felder is also a camp alumni of the Future150 Elite24 Camp, and has continued to make a name for himself since then. Felder is young for his class and dominates on both ends of the floor by using his length, athleticism, and versatility. He finishes above the rim and is very good at finishing through contact as well. He has an unorthodox jumper but still finds a way to make it go in. He is just now scratching the surface and has an extremely high ceiling.*

8.|*Zeb Graham, 6'1" PG, Nations Ford High School:*One of the best scorers in the state, Graham knows how to keep the defense on their toes and even make them look silly at times. He has had a very solid sophomore season at Nations Ford High School, and will continue to see his stock go up while running with Team Charlotte on the Under Armour circuit this summer. Very big things coming soon from him, so keep your eyes peeled.*

9.|*Malcolm Wilson, 6'11" C, Ridge View High School:*Wilson's potential is through the roof with his elite length and court awareness. On defense, he always knows where to be to position himself to affect a shot in the best way possible. He uses his length to crash the offensive glass and finish over the top of the defense and above the rim. He picked up an offer from South Carolina State not too long ago, and his recruitment will only be going up from here.*

10.|*Mike Green, 6'2" SG, Myrtle Beach Christian Academy:*One of the best pure/three point shooters in the Southeast, Green is on the verge of breaking out. He has good size for his position and is a great leader on and off the court. He has seen interest from local programs such as NC State and UNC, and it seems like it's only a matter of time before he starts to add multiple D1 offers to his list.*

Default Re: The 2019 Class of South Carolina Recruits

This 2019 class is shaping up to be one of the best in SC for years. With our recent success and the run to the Final Four, and the fact we are now looking for another Asst Head Coach with strong recruiting capabilities, I believe we will start having higher rated classes and hopefully grab a couple from the list above.

Of course, we will continue to recruit nationally, but getting these top players in the state to play their college ball in Columbia could significantly help our program compete for a SEC Championship and get back to the final four.

We wouldn't have won the East Regional without PJ or Sin City, so signing the top in-state players every couple of years will be paramount for the Gamecock Basketball program moving forward.

Three Columbia guys in the top 5 in the state and all at least 4 star prospects. Can't let them get away like has happened too often in the past.

I think five of the recruits are at least four stars. Even better!

An A. C. Flora player at #1? I hope he is better than some of their previous players that were all rejects and never were worth an offer.

You know, Xavier McDaniel, Tyrone Corbin.....I can think of at least 4 Flora players that wound up at Wichita State over the years, but only one here. And he did not even play ball at Flora, we got him after a stint in the Army.

Our best shot is James. I've heard Brown and Gary both want to head out of state, granted this was prior to the Final Four run but if they wanted to leave the state in general the Final Four run won't be a big impact.

I'll have to go to my source about Brown and see what he is leaning towards

Last I heard it was Kansas but it would be hard to hold off UK if they decided to offer.

Carolina had a different coaching staff back then. I went to HS with X and Tyrone Corbin and I graduated HS in 1982.

I didn't see USC mentioned among the offers for these guys. That does not mean Frank has not offered, but its interesting that Frank does not seem to offer guys real early. At least not openly.

This is the first class that this run will really affect. It is hard to affect the next class with how early recruiting begins and the timeline of it all. We in theory have a chance at some of these guys and they could make a big difference in the early 2020s.

Bill Foster was coach. He did not offer Corbin and he wanted X to go JUCO first.

Both players started as Freshman, Corbin at DePaul and X at Wichita State. The funny thing is that both programs were Top 25 back then and we weren't. Wonder why?
