Baylor's incoming freshmen class (the one ahead of Smith) is 4-deep in guards, so there's definitely room for NaLyssa Smith to go there if she wants. I'm pretty sure she's one of the only bigs that they are going after in that class..

I'm not sure how relevant SC or Baylor's post situation is to Smith anyway... I think she's more of a 4/3 type player. She's a face-up 4, but you can even play her at the 3.. she has ball handling skills on par with a 3.

And I would be crushed if we lost Smith to Ohio State or Louisville, but especially Louisville.
She has a good chance to start from day one here though. Jennings will start if she decides to not go pro. Her only other competition is Ladazhia Williams and whatever other posts we get in the 2018 class. She'd be a 4 here. Grissett and Herbert Harrigan would move to 3.

Grissett is a 3 Thant can play 4 in a small ball lineup or a pressing line up. Herbert Harriman is not moving to 3. She's a 4. But NaLyssa Smith is a game changing recruit. Herbert Harriman is likely a career backup rotational player. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Kiki is an outstanding athlete; she showed it in the game vs. Louisville. I'd never write someone off after their freshman year. Look at Tiffany Mitchell - as a freshman she didn't show much.

Kiki can absolutely play 3 or 4. 3 Really is probably a better fit for her. She has an outside shot, just needs to develop it more. I see her as a Jamie Nared kind of player eventually.

I can see Harrigan growing into a Nared type player at the 3.

In most leagues, Harrigan would be a bonafide power forward.. but the SEC is so big and strong at the 4 and 5 spots that Harrigan has to completely change her body in order to take the beatings you'd get at the 4-spot for the next 3 years.

Anything is possible. Wilson was very thin (albeit bigger than Harrigan) when she first got to SC too and she's pretty stout and muscular now. Harrigan will need to improve her foot speed and defense tremendously if the plan is to make her more of a 3/4 player.

IMHO, Williams is the one with the most potential at PF. She has the square shoulders like Coates but the athleticism of Wilson.. I also think Williams is a better outsider shooter than she gets credit for.

Either way, I think Harrigan and Williams are both going to bring things to the 4-spot that we typically don't see in our offense. I would like to see us stretch the floor more from that position and both of them are capable of that.
