Agreed, it's quite sad. I guess in his delusional world it's only fair only if North Carolina hosts every single year.

I think most would agree that the following are SC cities that would be better suited:
- Columbia
- Greenville
- Myrtle Beach
- Charleston
- Possibly even Hilton Head
It certainly doesn't matter to me, but I thought we were talking about the first round of the women's tournament, which is determined by merit.

It isn't a bid so much as it would be the school choosing its location.

I don't think it will happen.

Florence certainly is not likely to host an NCAA determined site.

I'm not sure. Hotel Florence would likely qualify, but its not a bigger property.

They are adding a Hyatt Place downtown and a Fairfield Inn not sure about full service options.

Look, Florence has a 10,000 seat arena, which is likely the closest suitable venue to Columbia.

That's the only reason someone else brought it up. It is a mental exercise more than anything else. It probably could handle the event, but it wouldn't be ideal by any stretch.

I don't think anyone really thinks USC will choose Florence as the location. Ok?

There is one in Jacksonville, and that isn't a bad drive at all. If we have a team that is highly seeded enough to merit placement consideration we won't have to make more than a 4 hour drive to the venue that year and that's not bad at all, not the location that we had this year but not bad at all.

Yes there are several hotels within walking distance from the Civic Center that have all of that. There are 12 hotels essentially surrounding the Civic Center. There have been three brand new hotels built since this image was taken and they are building two more right now.

I just called a lady at the city of Florence and asked her about the hotel situation and the 5k number and she laughed and said that is within sight of the Civic Center itself. I didn't think of this and she made a great point that Florence annually hosts over 60k people for the NASCAR race in Darlington and does not have any problems with hotel space.

Sounds good to me . It's close to a couple of interstates too . Get someone from the chamber of commerce to make a pitch to Ray Tanner before he commits to Greenville for those first two games in 2019 .

Or Gaffney for that matter. They even have a giant hemorrhoid as an attraction.

It's 15 minutes further from Columbia to Charleston or Greenville. It would be nice to have something to do after the games are over. If it's in Florence, I'll just commute.

More than 15 minutes difference for me . I can be on I-20 East in less than 10 minutes . I got to go half way around Columbia to get to I-26 . But I'll still commute if it's in Greenville . I stayed up there for the women's SEC tourney , but that's because they had games every day . No desire to pay for two nights in a hotel just to stay up there on an off day .

Residential Florence to Clemson road can be done consistently in 50 minutes.

The best you are going to do to Charleston or Greenville is about 1:30 and that's hauling.

I agree your entertainment options are considerably more limited.
