![]() Not sure what the OP meant by "best Rock Voice" but I took that to mean
Vocal Skills, as opposed to "Distinctive" Rock vocals. .... Who I think has the best pipes (Ronstadt, Joel, Perry etc....) might not be the best or most defining voice IMO for the Rock Genre. If it were for just Distinctive voice, My list would include Steven Tyler, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, JANICE JOPLIN (Oh Hell Yeah)........... The lead singer for Cinderella (Tom Keifer) has always been a voice I loved to listen to in his younger days, since they released their first album. Not what you'd call "polished vocals" but for that brand of Rock music in that era (80s) you could feel the emotions in his voice, and he left nothing on the stage everytime they played. It eventually cost him his voice, but he gave it up doing what he loved doing.

![]() ![]() I actually liked his vocals prior to joining Van Halen more though. As a solo artist and when he was with Montrose. Dude could sing ! His voice had matured when he joined VH, but even that was still good, but I always got the impression that he tried too hard to be more "Over the top" when he was with them. On stage live anyways. He just didn't have that same "Punch" that he had with Montrose, or when he toured as a solo artist.

![]() Randy Jackson of Zebra was a hell of a talent. Saw them in the Boat House in Portsmouth Va. I believe. They and Jackson killed and I was a fan every since. Funny thing about that night. I saw Zebra, Guns and Roses, White Lion and Frelays Comets all in one night at a beer joint for 15.00. There was not 200 people in the joint. 2 weeks later Guns and Roses video of Welcome to the jungle hit MTV and the rest was history. White Lion had a couple of tunes that hit about the same time.

![]() David Coverdale could belt it also. They hit at the tail end of hairbands. If they would have came around earlier they would have ruled the roost for a while.

![]() Have to agree on Freddie Mercury. Number of hits. Longevity. Musical quality, range and pure talent. He wins in every category.

![]() Terry Collins of Medicine Hat. Local band down in the lowcountry that could flat sing and play. Had the most soulful voice I have ever heard.
