Per P&C:

In terms of playing, Felder would be eligible the day after the final exam of the fall semester is given (Dec. 18), meaning he could suit up for USCís game at Clemson on Dec. 19 and all 18 SEC games.

Thanks. Is he allowed to practice with the team and not play. Or cannot participate in any team activities until the 18th?

I like the way things are coming together. Felder has to be enrolled to practice, but he will have a little time to get acclimated before the SEC season starts.

This works out great - the new Guards will have a chance to play and get up to speed prior to Felder coming back.

Deep, deep group with Felder and the transfers. If Gravatt keeps it going from his summer experience and Beatty is as good as advertised, we be rollin'.

I'm happy that Rakym is getting another chance (both for him and for our basketball team), but he has to know this is his last strike w/ the school. I hope to see him keep his head down and ball out until he graduates or attracts scouts.

Charges were DISMISSED. No deal made, so really how tough should the school be on him - NOT very.

Yeah, with dismissed charges, the punishment does not fit the crime - way too harsh. It is more than enough punishment for Felder to get the message.

Back in the early 70s guys like John Roche and John Ribock got into fights every week.

We live in a zero tolerance age.

..You mean everyday.....you also never played cards with those guys either. Seems the whole team liked to gamble playing cards and everyone of them thought of themselves as some kind of card shark. Depending on the player that lost that night there would be a fight. Those guys were nutz.

I retired 11 years ago, even then "Zero Tolerance" included an oral threat. An oral threat could get you fired. I imagine it is worse now.

More like every game. You did not mess around with Big John (Ribock, not Roche. But Roche was feisty too).

The funny thing is that I don't even think they got suspended back then. Of course, there were not a lot of TV cameras around, and zero cell phones.

A different time for sure. I remember walking five miles to school every day in the snow...

His average height prevents him from making passes to the post like Gravett and PJ did last year.

He's a great passer in a full court game, but I still see him as a second-string role player.

From a non-basketball standpoint, for whatever reason, he has been a magnet for off-the-court trouble in record time.

He was in deep do-do with the law even before the season began last year.

The secondary scrum that happened after he and the girl got into it is the other problem. You can bet he is on LE's radar more than he was before.

He still hasn't been tried in the court of the Honorable Frank Martin yet, either, and I guaran-damn-tee you that's a lot tougher than the one he just got done with.

I like Rah and will go with whatever Frank does, but if his basketball celebrity is enabling bad behavior then he needs to cool his jets for a year to prove he can stay out of trouble long enough not to be a liability for the team.

Frank is at the point where he needs to be focused on competing for the Natty instead of baby-sitting someone who doesn't get it away from basketball.

The guy has ditched his responsibility to his coaches and teammates off-the-court in record time for the last two years.

Yeah, the charges were dismissed instead of dropped, but Rah shouldn't have put himself in that position in the first place.

Dayum, KON. Good thing you ain't a judge - death row would be busting at the seams.

Let me re-phrase this. If the charges were dropped - in other words, like nothing happened, not even a parking ticket - isn't missing a year a little strong?

Yeah, he should have walked away, and I don't understand the spitting thing either. Not classy. But as I understand the deal, the girl spit on him also. Spitting is a heck of a lot better than hitting, in my book. And from what I can tell, he was not involved in any actual fighting, and blaming him for the "scrum" is a little unfair - the participants should be responsible for their own actions.

So he spits on someone, misses an entire semester and 1/3 of the games? And that is not enough punishment?

Felder was a star in the tournament and is our only pure Point Guard. And he feeds the post just fine - this is not football where you just throw over tall linemen, you can throw around, penetrate and dish, etc.

But he is not coming back second semester because his talent is needed - it will be because he has been punished enough.

He's a sharp, intelligent guy and I like him a lot.

That's why I am totally baffled by his behavior that has gotten him in trouble. It just doesn't jive with his personality that we have seen in the pressers.

I believe this may be the case.

Charges being dismissed may mean to a lot of folks that they should never have been brought in the first place.

LE requested a jury trial, not his attorney BTW.

I think the authorities need to clarify just what exactly went on.

There is no need to ruin a kid's future if charges should never have been brought.

This whole thing has been kinda strange from the gitgo if you ask me.

or maybe they just decided to give the guy a break. That happens sometimes. Trials take time out of people's lives. Every incident is worth that kind of ordeal. Sometimes the government can fold as easy as the NCAA. Scary thought.

He had a good career and was a First Round draft pick, but he was close to being the #1 prospect coming out of HS and he could have done even more. But a real character and a good Gamecock.
