Honestly, although Iyama got pushed back, Davis couldn't shed him. Iyama looked sound there to me. If it were a real life situation, the QB would just step up and release it. The block looked solid. (This is from technique and such).

As far as him getting pushed back, I suspect Iyama will see a couple of years in the weight room before seeing meaningful play time. Most OLs don't see the field until their junior year anyways. We will see though.

Footwork and technique needs work but so does pretty much every high school lineman. Don't get too worried. Coach wanted this kid for a reason so.

I trust Wolford's judgement more so than our last OL coach's. He knows what he's looking for.

Don't think you can judge a lineman based off one clip.

Those drills favor the defensive lineman

Honestly that wasn't that bad at all...

His footwork sucked, but that'll improve with time. These one-on-one drills for offensive line and defensive line are so stupid. In a real life situation the QB would have stepped up in the pocket, not just get run down 15 yards behind the play. We live in a time where everyone is obsessed with 7 on 7's and crap like that so they have to make up some BS drills to judge linemen on.

If that was a real game, it would be a win for Iyama. Davis pushed Iyama back, but not enough to knock him down and he never got around him. The QB would have enough time to move up in the pocket and complete the pass.

I remember watching film of Mitch Hyatt (who you are probably very familiar with) getting just abused by Chauncey Rivers. So what's your point, that we should draw conclusions about an 11th grader who might, or might not, grow another 3" or put on 25 more pounds before he ever sees the field at USC? Besides that, unless the QB held the ball too long that pass should get off. Plenty of guys get beat there by shear speed. Iyama did not. There is nothing on that one clip that should alarm anyone, except maybe you.

One highlight clip from a 1v1 drill has people worried?

Yep, guess a high school player should be college ready now in this clip. damn some people just gotta' find a flaw to take away the joy. Guess we should just notify him he doesn't meet cocky talk criteria at this time and what does the coach that recruited him know. Sheesh.

It was the video in question but IronFan is the eternal pessimist.

And I think the follow-up posters had it the other way, with the D Lineman having the advantage.
