chart would include added picks for Fullbacks (for when you needed them), Field
Goal Kickers. Punters and Kick Return specialists. .......... Show me your depth chart

Freshman and Sophomore years, he was a DE. He was switched over to LB/DE
in his junior season after he was asked by Ellis Johnson to drop some weight
and work at LB. He was used as a Morphed DE/LB and a lot of his sacks came
when He was a DE even in his Junior and Senior season, he would line up at
the DE spot in a passing situation.

My memory is not what it used to be but my list would be similar to Spurt except I would have to put Lattimore somewhere in that RB group. Also have to add the kid at FB that played catcher on the baseball team who came back for a crappy senior season and Kalimba Edwards at LB.

Fry kicked for 4 seasons and Succop only kicked for 3 if I'm not mistaken. Also Succop was a pretty good punter as well as a place kicker and had a much stronger leg. Any idea on percentages over 50 yards for the 2 of them?

Great list!

This is tough...I just don't remember some of them well enough. I do remember some good OL and DL from some of our older teams and some good DBs from the '80's and '90's, but not sure how they'd stack up against some of your picks or guys we've had since Lou was at USC.

RBs....I loved Thomas Dendy, but no way I'd play him over Marcus. Marcus in his prime was the X factor. He made things happen. As much as I love Big George and Duce, Marcus would be my top choice in short ydg or a red zone guy.

WRs....Sterling played something called a wingback. He may be the slot guy, putting Sidney and Alshon as WRs.

You did leave off KO-kicker...usually the PK guy, but I'd have Ryan ahead of Small Fry for KOs. Ryan could boom a KO!

Also, a nickle is usually a CB (Captain Munnerlyn/Chris Culliver/Jonathan Joseph). DJ and Darian Stewart were safeties or spurs in the old 4-2-5. So many good DBs the past 20 seasons.

I also find it hard to see MI6 and Devin Taylor out of the DL group, but I don't remember Kevin Hendrix well enough and I'd make the tough pick of Melvin over Eric. MI6 was a beast his Sr. year. And it's easy to forget how good Devin was as a run stopper.

Ryan had some kind of abdomen injury one of those seasons. I remember it being an issue.
But Small Fry still has a better FG made %.

Some of the additional picks were to get great players in my lifetime on
the roster. Johnny Wright who I listed as a FB, was actually a Running
back/Tailback on the roster, but he was on the same team with George
Rogers and Carlin used a two back set most of the time, and used Johnny
mainly as a Blocking back for leading Rogers. ... And he was Damn Good at
it. A large part of Big George's yardage during his stellar career can be
attributed to Johnny Wright laying guys on their ass in front of to get him
to daylight. He was in all forms of the description, a Fullback.

Stewart and Swearinger were (during their years) Spurs which was a morphed
Safety / Linebacker when Ellis instituted the 4-2 front. That 7th man in the
front was the spurs who were usually the hardest hitters on the defensive
roster, but in a sense, that 5th player at the second level. I listed them as
Nickles due to them being additional LB/DBs.

As for Dendy vs Lattimore. ..... I saw both them play here at SC, but I was
fortunate enough to see more of Thomas Dendy for a few reasons. I played
football with his cousin and knew the family, and saw TD play four years of
football at Hillcrest High. I know Marcus was a fan favorite due to his attitude
and leadership ability as well as being a damn good RB, BUT .... Marcus was
only on the field for basically 2 full seasons being that two of those years
were pretty much 1/2 seasons due to the devastating injuries. Marcus was
"good" running the ball, but his major contribution to the offense here was
his ability to get into the end zone when we were inside the 10 yard line. He
was a guy who wasn't a major scoring threat on breakaway / long distance
runs. Dendy had the ability to do that, and did it many times. TD was a very
durable Back who broke George Rogers' freshman (first season) rushing
record. Dendy also as a Junior and senior back, was used in a "platoon"
system that Morrison set up when he ran The Veer Offense, before going to
the Run and Shoot after Dendy had graduated. That reduced his carries and
cut down on some of the total yardage he got as an upper classman, even
though it was still impressive even by today's standards. .... I know a lot
of the younger / more current fanbase will not take this statement well, but
in a head to head comparison, Thomas Dendy was a MUCH better RB than
Marcus Lattimore just basing that on what little we got to see of ML. It may
have proved (had Marcus not gotten hurt) that Lattimore was better over
a four year, to four year comparison, but TD was faster, more durable and
with better numbers (save TDs). ... If I had to choose between the two for
a season, TD would be my starting back.

First, size has absolutely nothing to do with this. Second, Fry played 4 years compared to succop's 3. So pick up your mic and think again

Ok.
Just a reminder.....the strength of schedule in the early '80's is nowhere comparable to level of SEC defenses the past decade. And don't forget Marcus' uncanny ability to break tackles and catch just about every pass thrown his way. We really only have one full season to compare....and a TR FR season. Still sad the way that played out.
