They aren't sentencing him to prison, they are simply buying out his contract. A school can decide to part ways with a coach for many reasons and doesn't need him to be found guilty of a crime to do so.

It’s actually not.

I don’t know, but there is certainly a lot of retrospective sexual harassment. “Hmmm, I thought it was fun at the time, but maybe I was actually sexually harassed?” (Usually a conclusion arrived at while drinking wine with the girls)

This case, as with so many others, involved a judgement rendered in the absence of ANY evidence. Now, even though there isn’t a shred of evidence, Rodriguez is likely going to be blackballed because Arizona used it as an easy way out.

They could have just said “he’s not winning enough” and left it at that.

An easy way to avoid being accused on harassment is simply not to do it. Or even approach the line.

Full disclosure, I'm a man in a professional setting. I've never said or done anything that would be perceived as harassment mostly because I'm not a jerk, but also because I am a professional. Even when I'm with other male employees, if you wouldn't make a joke or say a statement in front of your wife or mother, you shouldn't say it.

I'm not sure what Rich Rod's case is really about, but if we're assuming that it's overblown, perhaps the best way to avoid that is just not to have an affair with someone you work with. It really isn't that hard to do.

I read the affair was with someone not affiliated with the University just a few spots back. But I believe it goes without saying that unless you're in an open marriage that you shouldn't be sleeping around.

That depends on how up-tight your wife is.

I am also a male in a professional setting (ignore for the moment that I am posting on CT in the middle of the day) and have seen these things play out.

I’m not defending Rodriguez as a nice guy. He’s a married man and should act like it. Nevertheless, I’ve seen far too many instances of mutual, consensual flirting. Then one party takes it “too far” (whoever gets to decide what that is) or one party feels remorse and decides it wasn’t mutual/consensual after all. It ends up getting reported as sexual harassment.

The fact that the accuser in this instance refused to comply with the investigation or show supposedly incriminating evidence leads me to believe that’s what was going on.
