Default Superregional host if the top seed loses

Mentioned during the softball game but applies here (I think) - early on, one of the announcers said that Florida St. didn't want to have to watch someone else play on their field if they lost the regional, but wouldn't the higher of the two teams playing host?

They never brought it up again, even when we were leading late in the game, so I'm guessing they misspoke, but just wanted to clarify.

Yes, highest remaining seed hosts unless there is some strange coincidence where one cant host. Kind of like when a 2 seed hosts a regional

From the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Wikipedia page:
Quote:
Super Regionals are played at eight locations throughout the country and consist of the 16 surviving teams, matched up by predetermined regional pairings. National seeds cannot meet each other in the super regional and are guaranteed to host. If the national seed in the bracket is eliminated in the regional stage, the super regional will be played at the higher seeded team's field. If the two seeds are the same, the Super Regional will be bid upon by the two competing teams. If the national seed wins the regional but is unable to host, the Super Regional is awarded to the other regional winner in its bracket. This scenario played out in 2015 when national seed Missouri State could not host a Super Regional because the minor league Springfield Cardinals, which have scheduling priority at the stadium where both teams play, were playing a home series at that time. The Super Regional was thus awarded to Arkansas. The two teams play a best-of-three series to determine who moves on to the College World Series. Although one school hosts all three games, the teams split home-team status in the first two games, with the host school batting last in the opening game and first in game 2. If a third game is needed, a coin toss determines home-team status. Ole Miss is the only school to host three Super Regionals without advancing to the College World Series under the current format. Florida State has lost five Super Regionals as host, but has also advanced to the College World Series five times under the current format.

That's what I figured - couldn't imagine the games would be played at FSU even though 2 different teams were playing. Unfortunately, they don't have to worry about that scenario :-p

I'm still confused, so I'll just ask this basic question. If Clemson loses their regional and South Carolina wins their regional, does South Carolina get to host the Super regional?

Yes. Ark and ECU host the regionals and potentially Super Regional we would feed into.

IF Ark loses their Regional and ECU loses their regional, then the highest seeded team/winner from the 2 regionals would host. (i.e. A 2 seed from one of the Regionals would get to host Super Regionals if the 3 or 4 seed from the other Regional won their Regional.)

IF both teams who win their Regionals are the same seed (i.e. #2 SC and #2 Southern Miss,) then the Super Regional is Bid by the 2 teams...and in that case the stronger bid wins. The selection commitee will pick the team with the better facilities, attendance, and marketability though...and that would be SC in that specific situation.

Arkansas vs Oral Roberts
So. Miss. vs Dallas Baptist

This looks like a cakewalk regional for Arkansas.

So no chance we can host a SR - even if Clemson loses?

Clemson is matched up with the Tallahassee regional, it doesn’t matter what they do as far as us possibly hosting a super. We need Arkansas to lose for that to happen.
